Why is Agricultural Engineering Important to Florida's Future?Florida's food and agribusiness industries are among the largest and most diverse in the nation, and are second only to tourism in economic importance to the state of Florida. They employ nearly 20% of the work force, and are highly sophisticated and technologically advanced industries that have become the envy of the world. As the earth's finite mineral and food supplies are depleted, we will need to develop methods to produce fuels, chemicals, and materials from renewable biomass production systems. That's why increasing employment of well-trained agricultural engineers will be of critical importance to maintaining global competitiveness and future prosperity of this industry and the state of Florida.
